Nostalgia Overload of the Day: Riding a wave of 90s nostalgia that began with Nickelodeon’s rerun block of 90s programming, and continued through the reboot of Beavis and Butt-head that premiered this week, Fox announced today that it has teamed up with creator Keenen Ivory Wayans to revive the popular 90s sketch show In Living Color.
Fox is set to air two half-hour episodes of the new In Living Color in midseason, as part of the network’s 25th anniversary celebration. If the specials are successful, a series option is waiting in the wings.
Debuting on April 15, 1990, In Living Color was groundbreaking in its employment of a primarily black cast. Wayans’ siblings Damon, Shawn, Marlon and Kim all starred in the show. Several now-famous actors, including Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx and David Alan Grier, made regular appearances.
